Join me on Day 1 of my Vietnam Coffee Tour as we dive into the sophisticated specialty coffee scene of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). From the minimalist, high-tech brewing at XLIII Specialty Coffee to the passion and expertise at Les Monts, we explore how Vietnamese coffee culture is evolving far beyond traditional Robusta. Featured Coffees: Washed Sudan Rume (Las Margaritas, Colombia) at XLIII Ethiopia Worka Sakaro Winey Anaerobic at Les Monts.
On Day 2 of our Vietnam research trip, we go beyond the standard brew to explore the rare and historical coffee varieties of Vietnam. We sit down with Tran Hoa, Head Roaster and certified Q Grader, at The Hummingbird Café & Roastery to discuss the Langbiang Project. This initiative is dedicated to preserving rare "heirloom" Arabica varieties that have thrived in Vietnam since the French colonial era.
For Part 3 of the 2026 Vietnam Coffee trip we fly to Da Lat and tour Zanya Coffee in the Langbiang Mountains. Zanya is a specialty Arabica project founded by Marián Takáč and his wife, Lim. This installment is an in-depth and exclusive look at how coffees are washed, sorted, and processed, including washed, natural, anaerobics, and co-fermentations.
Day 4 of an amazing Vietnam coffee adventure. Join a blind cupping session in Zanya, hosted by Mariam and Lin, organized by Erinn Buhyoff (Crop to Cup), assisted by Linh, (Võ Khánh Linh, coffee roaster @twocuppingsaweek in Hanoi), along with Kate and Long (Nature's Gif, Lộc Rừng). Learn why cupping is structured to focus on flavor, aroma, and quality.
Day 5 of my Vietnam coffee tour, Part 1. We visit Lộc Rừng in Lam Đồng to see coffee at origin, from the trees to the people and processes that shape quality. This episode focuses on the coffee harvesting , and what matters on the farm long before coffee ever reaches a roastery.
On Day 6, we dive into coffee processing at the Lộc Rừng facility in the village of Đưng K’Nớ. Nestled within the Lạc Dương district of Lâm Đồng province. Lộc Rừng represents a rare level of technical sophistication for a facility of its size in Vietnam.
On Day 7 we head to Buôn Ma Thuột, the "Coffee Capital of Vietnam." We're visiting Great Cherry, a robusta-focused project with a mission to redefine the reputation of Vietnamese coffee. Great Cherry facility acts as a strategic link between local smallholder farmers and the international specialty market. Tammy and Will, who built their careers in Australia before returning to Vietnam, are proving that robusta's perceived inferiority is simply a result of underinvestment.
On Day 8 we return to Saigon to explore the city's evolving specialty roasting scene. We visit Purus Coffee Roastery in District 3. Tucked away in a quiet courtyard, Purus functions more as a dedicated roasting studio. We meet Will (Cường) who represents a new generation of Vietnamese coffee professionals. His mission is to highlight the true flavor potential of Vietnamese-grown beans.
On Day 8 we also visit BeanHop Roastery in District 1 of Saigon. BeanHop is one of the city's premier roasteries. We sit down with Khiem Nguyen, the head roaster at BeanHop. Khiem’s technical precision and innovative spirit earned him second place in the 2025 Vietnam Brewers Cup.

“My plein air pastels and paintings are what I call a visual workout that sharpens my eye toward what I find so unique about Maine. Whether in sunlight setting over a marsh that inches toward the sea, or fractured in golden triangles on the side of an ancient fish house, Maine’s complex and shimmering light forever inspires me to capture it on paper at the right moment."
Tracy Ginn’s art is featured on the front of Black Point’s coffees. Tracy’s colorful artwork complements the passion that the famers put into growing their coffee beans, and the wonderful flavors you can enjoy in every cup. Please explore all of Tracy Ginn’s artwork on her website.
